Telephone marketing is the marketing by means of telephones or online web conferencing. This marketing falls in the category of E-Marketing, since it use electronic means for the purpose of marketing. What actually happens in Telemarketing is that a salesperson talks to the targeted customer or consumer over the phone lines. This can also includes recorded audio and automatic random dialing of customer’s number making up a totally automatic system of Telemarketing, and consequently, firing thousands of employees. Telemarketing has become a very useful means of marketing in today’s world but many a people also consider at a headache and don’t want to hear such calls from salespersons.
This type of marketing can be broadly divided into two categories of ‘Business to Business’ marketing and ‘Business to Consumer’ marketing. The procedure of Telemarketing includes calling from call centers or even from homes, in case of lost cost marketing. There are usually two or more calls that are made for effective results. The first call is made to know the needs and wants of the customer. The data is saved with the associated phone number. Then, the second call is made to inform and tell the customer about his or her desired product and motivates the customer to buy the product. This includes informing about the price, features, and all other aspects of the product.
